FRIO FUN

Kayaking is becoming more popular since they are readily available and less expensive. Courtesy is a must when kayaking. Tubers have the right-of-way since the kayakers have better control of their vessel. We now have Kayaks for Sale or rent.

Kayaks are the new thrill on the Frio these days. There has been a remarkable trend toward kayaking in the past two years. The river should be 50 cfs or higher to provide decent kayaking. The river bottom is hard on the kayaks below that level. You may check the river flow at any time by clicking the link on the Main Menu to the left.

Tubing is the major warm weather attraction to our Canyon. To be carried by the cool, crystal clear, spring fed waters of the Frio River through the Cypress, Pecan, and Oak that line the river is beyond explanation. You can't help but leave your frustrations on shore.

Canoeing has been a favorite for; well who knows how long. I'm sure the native people of our canyon utilized the Frio for commerce and pleasure. You get that feeling of déjà vu when you traverse through the rapids and over the pools.
